James Henry Gautney was born on December 7, 1860 in Marshall, Alabama, United States, son of George W Gautney (1838–aft. 1910) and Frances Louisa Reeve (abt. 1841–bef. 1866).^{[1] [2] [3]}

Henry died on January 7, 1903 in Omaha, Morris, Texas, United States, aged 42. He was buried in Concord Cemetery, Omaha.^{[5] [6]}
