François Gauvin was born on 13 Nov 1827 and was baptized the next day in Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation parish in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Bas-Canada. He was the son of Jacques Gauvin, famer and Josephte Alain of this parish. Sponsors at François' baptism were Francoise Rochette Marguerite Alin [sic]; neither sponsor signed the register.
