Biography

John Gaver Sr was a Marylander.

A John Gaver, possibly this one, married Margaret Schwartz/Black in 1783. (The wife's surname is given as Schwartz in the German church records[1] and as Black on the county marriage license[2])

John is named in his father Daniel's will, but no property is left to him (possibly because he's dead; possibly because of parental disapproval). Instead, Daniel leaves property to Susannah Peckenbaugh "who lived with my son John and who had seven children by him" and to the said seven children Daniel, Elizabeth, John, George, Susannah, Catherine, and Henry. (He doesn't specify whether the children's surname is Gaver or Peckenbaugh.) Some land is specified for distribution among the grandchildren when grandchild Henry turns twenty-one.[3]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
