Biography
John Gavin was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to Western Australia
John came to Western Australia at fourteen years of age on the Shepherd, arriving on 26 October 1843.[1]
He was a Parkhurst boy indentured to Pollard at Dandalup. On 21.2.1844 he murdered George Pollard, his employer's eighteen year old son, and was hanged. This was the first capital punishment of a white in the colony.[1]
