Thomas Gay was born in Adderley, County Fermanagh, Ireland. On his immigration papers he claimed to be 39, making his birth about 1802, but the age given at his death in 1858 was 70, which would be closer to 1788.
He married Jane Marshall in 1813 in Fernmanagh County, Tyrone, Ireland.
Thomas emigrated to Australia with his family on the ship Margaret, arriving on the 28th of March, 1841.[1][2]
He died at Long Brush near Jamberoo on the 7th of September, 1858, and was buried in the Jamberoo cemetery on the 9th of September.[3]
