Note: #N00866.
Note N00866Lida is found in the 1900 US Census living in Marshfield, Wood County, Wisconsin. This record shows that she and William have been married for 8 years, and that her birth date is Jan. 1867 and her birth place is in Indiana (though both of her parents were born in Ohio). The family's name is misspelled "Dausen". In addition to William and Lida, the children Lottie M. (birth Jan 1893, Indiana), Alta M. (birth Sep. 1894, Indiana), Everett R. (birth Jan. 1897) and Nellie V. (birth July 1899, Indiana) are also here. This then corroborates her father's obituary in 1901, which said that she was coming to the funeral from Wisconsin. 1
In 1910, she is found in the Census living in German Township, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, age 42. All the children from 1900 are still in the household, and now Verle, Walter E., and Frederick E. have been born to the family. She is still in St. Joseph Co. with William and her children Nellie, Verl, and Walter in 1920. 1
Death date given in obituary of her husband, William Henry DAWSON, South Bend Tribune, 6 Apr 1954. 1
A clue to Lida/Lydia's whereabouts in Wisconsin indicate she was a resident with her husband in Arpin, Wisconsin, at the time of her father's death in 1901. This is also supported by the 1900 US Census record for Marshfield City, Ward 1-3, Wood County, Wisconsin, where she is listed as Leaila Dausen living with her husband William and the older children Lottie, Alta, Evertt, and Nellie. 1
Lida is buried in Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. 1
