Note that although this couple (Eleazer 1696 and Elizabeth Broadman) were childless, they were assigned guardianship to Eleazer, the son of his deceased brother Samuel in the year 1730. Samuel's other two children Samuel and sister Millicent were assigned by the courts to different Southmayd uncles. The court record also shows that Millicent was successful when she sought to be assigned to a different Southmayd uncle. When Eleazer (1696) died (1746?) , his widow Elizabeth went back to the courts to seek involvement of Seth Wetmore in the guardianship of Eleazer, the child of Samuel 1697). (Seth Wetmore was briefly (one month) a legal stepfather to the deceased Samuel Gaylord's three children before the children's mother Margaret Southmayd Gaylord Wetmore died.
