Benedict, 76, of 5215 Hess Benedict Road, widow of John M. Benedict, died unexpectedly at 8:50 a.m. Friday, May 20, at her home. She had been in failing health for several years. She was born a Lemasters on Oct 16, 1906, daughter of the late Tobias and Lydia (Martin) Gayman. Her early life was lived in Lemasters. She had lived in the Five Forks area since she and her husband were married in November, 1928, and at the present residence for the past 20 years. For a number of years she assisted her husband in the operation of his farming business. Her husband died in April, 1982. She was a member of the Falling Springs Congregation of the Old German Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and two daughters: Dr. Harold G. Benedict, Pendleton, Ind.; Mrs. Wilma Lee, Anderson, Ind., and Mrs. Faye Huffman, Dayton, Ohio. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Martha Myers, Marion; Mrs. Naomi Heckman, St. Thomas, and Miss Elizabeth Gayman and Jacob Gayman, both of Lemasters.

Benedict, 76, 5215 Hess Benedict Road, died at 6:45 a.m. April 24, 1982, shortly after being admitted to the Waynesboro Hospital. He was born at Five Forks Jan. 22, 1906, son of the late Harry G. and Emma Harshman Benedict. He was a lifelong resident of that area. He and his wife were married November 1928 and lived at the present residence for 20 years. He was engaged in farming all his life and had been semi-retired for the past ten years. He was a member of the Falling Spring Congregation of the Old German Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hettie Gayman Benedict; a son Dr. Harold G. Benedit, Pendleton, Ind., two daughters: Mrs. Wilma Lee, Anderson, Ind., and Mrs. Faye Huffman, Dayton, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson and these sisters and brothers: Miss Ida Benedict and Mrs. Emma Biesecker, both of Five Forks; Mrs. Mary Denlinger, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Ethel Hackman; Ephrata; Henry Benedict, Waynesboro and David Benedict, Chambersburg.
