Elijah Eglen Gayton was born in 12 Apr 1899[1] in Mitford, Norfolk[2].
He appears on the 1901 Census[3] with his family in Shipdham, Norfolk. By the time of the 1911 Census[4] the family lived in Wymondham.
He married Lily Sebborn in 1926[5] in Essex. In 1930 he remarried to Doris Hamblion[6] following Lily's death. The couple had one child, Molly.
On 7 Sep 1935 he was best man at the wedding of his brother Frederick[7].
He appears on the 1939 Register[8] in Mytchett, Farnborough, with his wife Doris and daughter Molly. He was a Warrant Officer Class 1 with the RAFC (Royal Army Service Corps).
He passed away on 21 Apr 1968 in Colchester, Essex[9][10] and was buried in Colchester Cemetery[11].
