Biography
John was baptised September 28, 1804 in St Germans, Cornwall, England. He was the son of Thomas Geake and Peggy Langmaid.[1]
He married Mary Lane on September 29, 1834 in St Germans, Cornwall and they were the parents of 2 daughters: Amelia 1835-1897 and Elizabeth 1836-1836.[2]
In the 1841 Census John was 35 years old, on Fore Street in St Germans, Cornwall and his occupation was butcher. At the time, wife Mary and daughter Amelia were at the home of her parents in South Petherwin, Cornwall.[3]
John died at the age of 79 in Donald, Victoria, Australia. His wife's name was given as Mary Lane and his mother's maiden name as Langmaid.
Research Notes
Because James and Mary NEVER appear in the same Census together and because she was listed as a widow in her Will when it was probated, it causes me to wonder whether at some point they were divorced or at least separated. (MacKechnie-21 18:32, 20 August 2021 (UTC))
