Nathan was born about 1758. He was the son of Jonathan Geary. Jonathan's widow, Amity, was appointed administrator of his estate October 27, 1758. She posted bond along with James Houghton[Jr?] . She is not identified here as Amity Houghton; however, her name is written at one point as Amity Houghton Geary, with the name Houghton crossed out (it does not seem to have the practice of the times to record maiden names). The initial accounting of the estate was settled October 6, 1761. By January 15, 1769 Amity was remarried to Daniel Davis when they presented an additional updated accounting of Jonathan's estate to the Court. Part of it mentions allowance of twenty pounds for clothing for Amity and for "...Boarding of the Decd['s] Son Nathan five years & half till he was Seven year old." Distribution of the estate was dated January 30, 1769, giving one third to Amity with the remainder to Jonathan's eldest son Jonathan, who received a double portion, and to Nathan, the second son of the deceased.[1]
Jonathan's eldest son, Jonathan was born about 1750, so he would have been about 8 when his father died. If Jonathan's son Nathan was boarded for five and a half years until he was seven, he would have been two and a half in 1761 when the first accounting was settled, so was probably born in 1758 or 1759.
A Nathan Gerry died April 19, 1816 in Sterling Massachusetts[2]. It's likely that he is the Nathan of this profile, but more information is needed to be certain.
