In the 1911 census and in his marriage record Henry gives his occupation as Ship's Carpenter. His death notice confirms this (shipwright) In 1915 Henry signed up to the Royal Navy. He served in several ships over the next 3 years till the end of World War One and his character assessments were always VG - very good and his ability was always Sat. - satisfactory. His height was 5'ft5 and a half inches, his hair brown and his eyes grey. However - his discharge card - held by the National Archives [1] says that his hair was dark brown and his eyes blue
In the 1921 census, he is with his mother and sister Jessie,33, is at 3 Braeheads. In the 1939 Register [2] Henry was living with his wife Eveline and their son Henry Jnr at 45 Forest Range, Manchester. Also at the address was Henry's older brother Frank. Both Frank and Henry were working as shipwrights.
Henry died before his wife Eveline, age 60, of of chronic myocarditis and chronic bronchitis. His wife signed his death record.
