Biography

Mary Anne was baptized at Banff 29 April 1810. She was the daughter of the watchmaker John Geddie and Mary Benzies.[1]

Her brother was the missionary John Geddie.

Mary Anne married James Johnston. They had one son and six daughters.[2] The had:

  3. Mary Geddie, b. 18 October 1837 at Pictou Town[2]
  4. daughter

  6. daughter
  7. daughter

Her father died intestate, and on 4 May 1843, John Geddie, Elizabeth Geddie, and Maryann Johnston, requested that the administration be granted to James Johnston and James Powers.[3]

She exchanged many letters with her daughter Mary who went with her husband as missionaries to Tanna.

She died about or before the same time her daughter, Mary Geddie Matheson did in March 1862.[4]
