Azzalee Gee Hayes passed on August 4, 2015. She was born to Altha Irene and Thomas Baily Gee in Animas, NM on February 28, 1921. She lived on their ranch outside of Lordsburg and always spoke of her early life there with fond memories. She attended business school in Albuquerque and moved to Silver City for her first job. She married Doyle G. Hayes in 1941 and moved to Albuquerque in 1942. They lived in Las Cruces, NM for 22 years before being transferred to Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by the husband she never quit loving. She is survived by her son, Doyle G. Hayes of the family home and her daughter Susan H. Compton of Los Lunas. Mimi is survived by three grandchildren, Sheri Lorraine Compton of Los Lunas, Christine Marie Hendrickson of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Derrick Gordon Hayes of Plano, Texas. She never stopped smiling when in the company of her great-grandchildren Lily Grace and Joseph Frank Hendrickson. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and was a Bronze Life Master.
She was instrumental in the procurement of the building for the Duke City Bridge Club. You could enjoy the bridge stories even if you didn't understand the game. She was an exceptional cook and gardener, and she loved to travel. We would like to thank the thoughtful neighbors, who watched over her these many years, and the caregivers from Home Instead for their patience. She requested cremation and no service but lifting up your prayer would be a remembrance held dear to us.
