REMARKS; George was born in Carrickfergus in 1895 the son of Edward and Jane Gee and brother of Edward, William, Winifred, Lily and Mary. By 1911 the family were living in Prospect Street and George was serving his time as an apprentice fitter. George was well known in local football circles, having been a talented player for the Woodburn Club. When war broke out in 1914 he enlisted into the 6th Battalion Connaught Rangers and following training was posted to France on active service from 17 December 1915. In 1918 while on active service in France he suffered a gas attack and was sent to a Canadian Military Hospital. He recovered and survived the war.
