Biography

Lucas Gee married Lucy Pennington on 15 April 1794 in Brunswick, Virginia.[1]

Lucas Gee of Lunenburg County left a will dated 28 October 1817 (proved 10 February 1820) in which he provided for his wife and children - apparently just the two sons, Sack P. Gee and William L. Gee, that he named as executors along with his brother Jones Gee.[2]

Lucas Gee is buried at the Gee Family Cemetery in Lunenburg County, Virginia.[2]

Research Notes

His FindAGrave memorial has a biography and links to his parents (Neavil Gee and Catherine Lucas), siblings (Jesse, Jones, Amey Andrews, and James) and two children (Sack Pennington Gee and Lucas Gee).[2]

As of 30 October 2022, the biography on his memorial included a transcription of his will with images of the will attached. However, the memorial does not include support for his birth information (born in Lunenburg on 18 April 1769) or relationships other than his sons and brother Jones named in the will.[2] The memorials for his parents and siblings may have supporting sources.

Support for his wife being Lucy Pennington was found on her father's WikiTree profile - Isaac Pennington (abt.1740-abt.1795), born in Sussex, Virginia and died in Brunswick, Virginia. Lucas's memorial had the following information about Lucy:

"...Lucy Pennington (June 19, 1772 Brunswick County, Virginia–____). Lucy is the daughter of Isaac Sack Pennington (1740–1795) and Anne Pepper (1741–1801) and the granddaughter of William Pennington (1715–1784) and Mary Avories (1718–____)."[2]

Location Notes

Lunenburg County was formed from Brunswick County in 1746.[3]

Gee-783 and Gee-107 appear to represent the same person because: dates differ but both are Lucas Gee, son of Catherine Lucas (and both lived to adulthood, so not one died young and a second son with same name).
