Ebenezer Geer was born on the homestead farm on 1 Apr 1710 in Groton, New London, Connecticut Colony, son of Robert Geer Sr. (1675–1742) and Martha (Tyler) Geer (1676–1741).[1][2][3]
He was a successful farmer, adding many acres to the original farm of his grandfather, George Geer. He bought out the homestead of his elder brother, Robert, and built the third house. Robert had inherited the homestead from his father, Capt. Robert Geer.[1][3]
Ebenezer died on 28 Aug 1763, aged 53. He was buried in New Poquetanuck Cemetery, Preston, New London County, Connecticut. His original tombstone was inscribed "In memory of Ebenezer Geer, who lived virtuously and died hopefully." Later, a monument was added and read "Our Grand Parents: Ebenezer Geer died August 28, 1763, aged 54 years Erected in 1873 by Robert Geer of Syracuse, N.Y."[1][2][4][3]
