Thomas was born in 1586. He was the son of Thomas Geere and Barbara Board.[1] He passed away in 1649/50.[2]
Thomas married Mary Geer (born Friend) in 1620, at age 33 at Ovingdean, Sussex, England.[3] Mary was born in 1599, in Ovingdean, Sussex, England, United Kingdom. They had 3 sons: Thomas Geer,[4] Deenes Geere[5] and 1 other child.
Thomas's brother Diones died at Lynn, Mass and his 2 daughters returned to live with their uncle Thomas. Thomas and niece Betsy (Elizabeth) were alleged to have helped King Charles II to escape to France. Both Rottingdean and Ovingdean were so very close to Brighthelmstone (now Brighton). King Charles stayed the night at the George Inn Brighthelmstone. Later a Mr Geer of Ovingdean is known to have received a gift from the king obviously for some help in his escape. Family tale is that Betsy had a child 9 months later but this part has to be fiction. I understand that Thomas was related (maybe only knew) Nicholas Tattershall the captain of the ship that took the king to France.
