Biography

Edward was born about 1837. He is the son of Richard Geering and Eliza Unknown.

The 1841 census records Edward aged 5, living with his parents Richard (35) and Eliza (30) in New Road, St John Under The Castle, Lewes, Sussex, England. There is a reference to Ann Geering aged 65, which could be Edwards maternal grand mother.
Within the household were also Edward's siblings; James (10), Richard (7), Lewis (3) and his newly born sister Ann (0).

Edward was attending school at the time of the 1851 census. He was living in Lewes with his parents and six siblings.

Following the reading of Banns on the 15th and 22nd of February and the 1st of March 1857, Edward Geering at the age of 19, married Sarah Card, also 19 years of age on the 2nd of March 1857. The wedding took place at Saint John the Baptist, Lewes, Sussex, England. Edward's father was Richard Geering and Sarah's was Thomas Card.

In 1881, Edward, employed as a plumber, was living in Spring Gardens, Lewes, Sussex with his wife Sarah and their four sons and two daughters.

Edward (55) had moved to Priory Street Lewes, Southover, Sussex, England in 1891, with his wife Sarah (51) and three of their sons; Willie (23), Frederick (14) and Albert (12), plus their daughter Alice (28). At the time, Edward was still working as a plumber.
