Biography

Birth year from age during 1850 Census (5 - 1844). Birth year given during 1900 Census was 1841. Death Certificate has 1841. Date given on tombstone is 5 Oct 1842. Assume that he lost track of his age because he was illiterate.

On December 9, 1852, York County records for the Guardian Account of Jacob, Edwin D., Margaret, and William Geesey, minor children of Jacob Geesey. Document was exhibited by John Innerst and Lamar Peeling, Sr. who were the administrators of Christian Innerst (decd.) who was their guardian.

1860 Census: Lived with sister Sarah in her husband's household (Age 15).

1870 Census: Lived with older brother, Jacob. (Age 21).

1880 Census: Windsor Twp., York Co., PA, Page 528B, House 55, Family 60. William Geesey 37, Day Laborer, Cannot Read/Write, Catharine 31, Keeping House.

1900 Census: York Borough, York Co., PA, Page 7A, House 127, Family 128. William Geesey 58, Farmer, Cannot Read/Write, Catharine 51, No children, Married 27 years.

1910 Census: York Twp., York Co., PA, Page 5A, House 90, Family 90. William Geesey 68, Farmer on General Farm, Cannot Read/Write, Catharine 64, No children, Married 36 yr.

Died at York Hospital of Nitrous Oxide gas during amputation of arm.

Buried 15 Aug 1914. Union Cem., Dallastown, York Twp., York Co., PA. [1]
