Biography

Ewart Gladstone Geggie was born on 26 October 1897 in Coulterville, Randolph, Illinois. His parents were James Geggie (1858 - >1940) and Agnes Aitchison (1860 - 1943).[1][2]

In the 1900 US Federal Census Ewart was said to be 2 years old and residing with his parents and siblings at Swanwick, Perry, Illinois.[3]

In the 1910 US Federal Census, Ewart was said to be 12 years old. He was employed as a Farm Labourer and resided with his parents and siblings at Swanwick, Perry, Illinois.[4]

On September 12th, 1918, Ewart completed the US World War I Draft Registration Cards, he was 20 years old and employed by his father on the family farm.[1]

In the 1920 US Federal Census Ewart is said to be 21 years old and living with his parents and siblings at Swanwick, Perry, Illinois.[5]

Ewart married Nellie Florence Phelps on 30 October 1926 at Belleville, St Clair, Illinois. This information was taken from Ewart's Obituary.[6]

In the 1930 US Federal Census, Ewart is now said to be 30 years old. He and his wife Nellie are residing with his parents at Swanwick, Perry, Illinois with Ewart working on the family farm.[7]

In the 1940 US Federal Census Ewart is now 40 years old. He and his wife remain residing with his parents at the family farm in Swanwick, Perry, Illinois.[8]

On February 16, 1942 at the age of 44, Ewart completes his US World War II Draft Cards. We cannot tell from the cards what service he undertook during the war.[9]

Ewart died on 20 September 1981 in Coulterville aged 82 and was interred at Coulterville Cemetery.[2][6]
