Biography

Sophia Gell was born about 1851 on the Isle of Man. ^[1] She married William Joughin, b: 1846 on the Isle of Man. The couple emigrated from Great Britain to New Zealand, where they had at least 2 children:

1. Edith Joughin, b: 1881 in New Zealand.
2. William Joughin, b: 1882 in New Zealand
3. Phillip Stanley Joughin, b: 1889 in New Zealand

Sophia (Gell) Joughin died in the Palmerston North district, New Zealand on February 22, 1932. ^{[2] [3]} She was buried next to her husband, who had died on May 6, 1920 at the age of 73. Sophia was 79 years old when she passed. Four of this family are buried at the Terrace End Cemetery, Palmerston North, Palmerston North City, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand. ^[4]
