Biography

Born in Levis Quebec on 17 October 1862, daughter of Joseph Edmond Gelley, in 1882 she came to Winnipeg from Quebec City with her family. An honorary life member of the Women’s Musical Club, she served its vice-president and for 35 years as librarian. She was also an organist at St. Mary’s Cathedral. On 11 January 1892, she married Richard Driscoll at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Winnipeg. The couple shared four children: Cecelia Driscoll, George Driscoll, Robert Driscoll, and Louis Driscoll. A former resident of 241 Yale Avenue, she died at St. Boniface Hospital on 1 September 1949. She was buried at Assiniboine Memorial Park Cemetery.
