DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Hello - I have that Anne Weir, born August 4, 1781 died March 16, 1849 and with John Gemmill they had nine children. John and Anne emigrated to Canada in May 1821 to New Lanark. I also have that John Gemmill died October 15, 1848 - very close date to what you have listed here.
I've set an Unmerged Match with Gemmell-65 thinking that perhaps that profile shows his second wife and the mother of his two daughters.
