Biography

I started working on my family tree on April 1, 2001. Always wanting to known where the family originated, I worked on it for hours every day, but it made me so depressed. Now I try to work on it a little at a time to keep my perspective and balance. I enjoy learning new things and so my latest hobby is teaching myself how to repair antique pocket watches. Other hobbies include wine, rock, stamp, coin, and license/permit collecting; amateur radio; and emergency preparedness.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Scott or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Scott:

Hi Scott, thank you for updating our Hollants line. Anna had about 5 more children with Emmett Eugene Compton. I'm still gathering documentation for. Just wondering did you receive the e-mail I sent you with the newspaper articles about Anna?

Hi Scott,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Scott. Thanks for adding all those James Bowman offspring. I've been meaning to work on it for awhile, but there are so many that it's kind of overwhelming. He was one of my most prolific ancestors.

Hi Scott,

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Be sure to also check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know, and I can help you figure out if there's a project that might interest you. Welcome aboard, we are glad to have you!

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello JB Gendron, and welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to become a member of WikiTree. Just add a Tag for each family surname or location you are researching. Then click the “Post Tags and Volunteer” button. (information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags). One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

WikiTree is an exciting and growing community and we are really glad you decided to join us.
