Biography
The largest complaint I receive from those trying to access this site about profiles from Mexico is that they can't find them. Many are using the original spellings and are not necessarily familiar with whatever has been decided to be the common spelling which may vary depending upon the person making a profile. So original spellings are included from the record so that newer persons who may not know more common spellings may find the record. And a simpler format for those not fluent in Spanish. Project Mexico please make it so that others may have a better experience at wikitree and find their records and stop telling others how difficult it is to find anything. Thank you!
Flashing save draft makes it difficult to further develop the profiles with categorization, formatting, etc. The owners of the site have been made aware of the problem and said they would address it, but many months later nothing has been done.

Given how much work you've done for Guanajuato, i think you could give him suggestions on a standard way to list pre-1823 locations in silao, Romita etc.

I used to use Nueva Espana and told that was wrong.
More datadoctor confusion.
I think it will be much easier to skip the field altogether rather than get any feedback which only slows my already slow internet connection.
Is there anything that says that field needs to be filled out?

Anyway. Would it work to say Guanajuato, México, Nueva España ... or is that a non-existant place? Did the town exist? (e.g., would "Guanajuato, Nueva España" work?)
Did the person say why Nueva España was incorrect? From what I can tell, it was appropriate for quite a long time - from Category: Mexico/Category: México:
The coding behind the text link "New Spain (Nueva España)" is to Category: Nueva España. Perhaps the previous comment was meant to refer to the category? But that doesn't track either - the category has people profiles in it & is not identified as a top-level category (which should not have people profiles in it). But whether or not Nueva España is a top-level category shouldn't preclude using it alone in a place datafield. For example, Category: Virginia is a top-level category & profiles should be categorized to a more specific location, but we have lots and lots of profiles with Virginia, not a more specific location - although just "Virginia" might trigger a DBE, since both Virginia Project & US Southern Colonies Project have preferred locations (e.g., Colony of Virginia).
Checking Space:DBE_618 to see if there was a project listed that would cover Nueva España, I found this:
Eureka! Nueva España & New Spain are listed in the table as accepted but Nueva Espana is DBE 617 (spelling) ... so, it must have been the missing accent that was being called wrong. (Yup. Search for 617 on this link... or search Ramirez-2424 ... it has Nueva Espana & shows as a DBE. Not^e^ (meant to say "Note", not "Not")... Note the entry just below it, for Sáenz-357 ... I think that one probably needs to be marked as false, and the others - hmm. There's a lot of them. Is áe correct? If so, I think that Aleš should be made aware of it, so he can exempt it - if it's correct & you'd like me to contact Aleš, let me know; otherwise, I think you can post to G2G tagged Ales & he'll see it.)

If I had a better connection I would provide more input and also go to the forum. For now, in future new posts, parenthesis will be taken out but all will remain as just writing Nueva Espana doesn't help identify where the person is from. Nueva Espana is huge and will most like result in many, many duplicate profiles because so many have the same names and no way to tell where without opening every post and hope that the poster bothered to write location in the bio. Guanajuato and other states did not exist at that time yet needed to help identify location.

You will notice some category name changes, since the states are named [Category:State, Mexico]] for English or with the diacritical for Spanish. The towns/villages/cites are named with [Category:Place, State]] without the country. I know there are tons of inconsistencies, but they are slowly being addressed and updated.Thanks, Natalie, Categorization Project
The image of the map of Nueva Galica is used for our Mexico subproject. Occasionally a data doctor volunteer will incorrectly move the image into the Bio section. Saludos Austin

I've been able to find a few books that show my Pennsylvania German ancestry, but (so far) they've stopped short of sourcing the relationship between my paternal 7th and 8th grandfathers.
Interesting that you mention Alsace. My paternal grandmother told me that her paternal line was Alsatian. At times, she would assert that they were "German Huguenots."
Also, I find it curious that my ggf Duran is the only Filipino Duran (so far) on WikiTree. I understand that four Duran brothers immigrated to the Philippines from Spain during the late 1700s.
Thanks for your encouragement! I'll research Pennsylvania German books from major genealogy libraries, and look into rootsweb.

Thanks for nudging me to take another look. I actually use the New Mexico database a lot, but somehow missed on Juan Antonio Duran.
After looking carefully again, thanks to you, I found more information to add to the Durans. And I will followup on familysearch, as well.
