Biography

Onofrio Gennaro is born around 1792 in Corleone, the son of Leoluca Gennaro and Elena Sindaco. He is named after his paternal grandfather.

Onofrio marries Giuseppa Lucchese, daughter of Maestro Salvatore Lucchese and Orsola Maida, on 8 January 1816 in Corleone. His father has died.^[1]

Onofrio and Giuseppa have at least two children: Leoluca (c. 1822) and Elena (1824), named after Onofrio's parents.

Leoluca is born around 1822, based on his reported age in the 1834 census.

Elena is born and baptized on 2 November 1824 in Corleone. Her godparents are Michele Rizzotto and Orsola, wife of Salvatore Lucchese.^[2]

In the 1834 stato delle anime, Onofrio Gennaro, 41 (b. 1792), heads a household the Cortile di Basile, a courtyard off the Strada Grande with his wife Giuseppa, 37 (b. 1796), and children Leoluca, 12 (b. 1822), and Elena, 10 (b. 2 Nov 1824).^[3]

Leoluca marries Biagia Listi on 20 September 1846 in Corleone.^[4]
