Biography

Bernarda was born in 1913. At the age of 4 she sailed on the Dante Alighieri from Italy along with her mother, Carmela, arriving October 5, 1917 to join her father Vincenzo who had previously come to the United States. She became known as Bernice but was also referred to as Dina. She married Frank T. Milone on September 2, 1934 and had one child, Vincent Joseph Milone. Bernice and Frank later divorced. She married Stanley Orlansky in 1941 and had two children, Bernice Marie Orlansky in 1943 and Stanley V. Orlansky in 1948. She passed away in 1965 and is buried in the Old St. Raymond's Cemetery, 1201 Balcom Ave, Bronx, NY 10465

Bernice's name and dates were never engraved on the headstone as the cemetery forgot to do. My father, her brother paid to have it done in 1965. He went back in 1969 to check on it and the headstone engraving was not done. My father had paid cemetery fees thru 1967. When he paid to have his sister's name put on head stone. I went to cemetery in January 2014, they claim to have no recollection and the stone man is out of business. They also wanted me to pay the cemetery fees from 1968 to 1982ish when they stopped yearly payments. (Anthony--grandson)
