Notes

In the 1870 Census, John is listed with Ellen Gensler. I have not found the marriage record for them and thus do not know what her maiden name might be. And I do not know when she died, except that by 1900 he was widowed.

I have not found John in the 1880 census to determine if Ellen was still living at that time. John's mom and some siblings were in Missouri by 1880 and It is probable that John was also in Missouri in 1880.

1850 Liberty Township, Guernsey County, Ohio in Wm Ginsler household, as John Ginsler, age 2, b Ohio.

1860 Richland Township, Fayette County, IL in Wm Ghinslers household, as John, age 12.

1870 Wilberton Township, Fayette County, IL in William Gensler (his brother) household, as John Gensler, age 24, with wife Ellen. Unable to make out what the occupation is.

1900 Dayton Township, Cass County, MO as head of household, as John Gensler, age 53, b Feb 1847 Ohio, widowed, farmer.

1910 Clarks Fork Township, Cooper County, MO in Robert Gensler household (his brother), as John, age 63, widowed.

1920 Sinton Township, San Patricio County, TX in Martin L Droke household, as John Gensler, brother-in-law, age 73, widowed. (With sister Sarah Jane Droke).

John's death certificate states he was buried in the "City Cemetery" in Boonville, MO.
