Biography

Mary E. Genthner was born in March 1843. She was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Woltz) Genthner, who were married 22 March 1833. ^[1]

09 August 1850, Mary E. was 7 years old, living with her parents and siblings in Waldoboro, Lincoln Co., Maine. In the hh: Jacob-a 39 year-old farmer; Elizabeth-38; Eben (Ebenezer) -14; Mary-7 and Eliza, aged 2. All family members born in Maine.

Gorham Genthner and Mary E. Genthner were married 26 November 1859. They appear to have been distant cousins. Exact relationship not yet determined.

22 June 1860--Gorham-22 and Mary E.-18 lived in Waldoboro. He was a sailor.

10 June 1870--When Mary E . was 27 years old, she lived in Waldoboro with her husband, Gorham Genthner-34 and a farmer. Children in the household: Cora E -9 and Willie H, aged 5. All members of the family had been born in Maine. Several Genthner families lived nearby--perhaps extended family for both.

14 June 1880--Mary E-36 and her husband, Gorham Genthner-43, a farmer, resided in Waldoboro, with sons, Willie-15 and Orrin, aged 9.

She passed away 04 September 1888 at the age of 45 years and 6 months. BURIAL in Genthner Cemetery, West Waldoboro, Lincoln County, Maine. Accordig to her death record, she was buried in a private cemetery.
