Biography

Curtis Gentry lived in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Curtis was the son of Pleasant and Maria (Park) Gentry of Estill County, Kentucky, and the brother of Albertus, Malinda, and William. He was born in July, 1851, in Richmond, Kentucky. His father was a farmer in Madison and Estill Counties, Kentucky, and Curtis followed in his father's footsteps.

Curtis married Susan Rubles on December 19, 1871, in Estill County. Their children were Lucy, Maud, and Beulah. They lived and farmed in the Crooked Creek area of Estill County. Susan died in 1881 while the children were still young.

Curtis married Betty Bruce in 1889. In 1900, they were living in the Red Lick area with children Giles, Glendon, and Guston. By 1910, the family had moved to Grant County, Oklahoma.

In 1920, Curtis and Betty were living in Palm Beach County, Florida. Curtis died there in 1924.
