Biography
James was born in 1802. [1]It is stated but unsourced, that James married to Polly Ann Goodrich in 1830. Nancy passed away in 1862. There is a marriage in 1864 to Ann Goodrich, she was age 53, first marriage for her, so she would not have been the mother of these children.
He married Nancy Crews, (daughter of Robert Crews (Cruse) and Mary Rebecca Richardson, per a tree.)[2]
In the 1850 census James (age 47), Farmer, was in District 2, Madison, Kentucky, United States.[3]

Obituary Gentry - At his home on Union Pike, four miles east of town, on last Wednesday, Uncle Jimmie Gentry, aged ninety-five years. Deceased was never sick in his life until the past four years, and since that time, has been in feeble health. His death was due to old age. He was a devoted member of the Christian Church. Besides eight children, 120 grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren survive him. After funeral services Tuesday, by Rev. T. I. Martin, at the family residence, his remains were interred in the family burying ground on Otter Creek.
James was mentioned on a memorial in Gentry-Parks Cemetery, Redhouse, Madison County, Kentucky, United States with a death date of 4 May 1898.[7]
