Eliza was born in Pennsylvania, USA in 1816.
She met and married James O'Brien in St Peter's Catholic Church, Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky, USA on Feb 17, 1835. Her husband James had studied as a physician at Transylvania University, Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky, USA prior to his marriage.
She was a "forty-niner" who travelled with her husband James and children Edwina, James and Piers Sierra Nevada across the plains in a prairie schooner to California during the 1849 Gold Rush.
Eliza passed away in San Francisco, California, USA on Oct 24, 1878, age 62.
