Biography

James was the son of Thomas George and Lucy Geurney Townsend. He was baptised on June 15 1834 at St Luke, Chelsea. James was known as Edward.

James lived at Union St with Lucy and George in Westminster and at age 16 worked as a Gas Fitter.

His whereabouts after 1851 wasn't found.

Jame's parents emigrated to New Zealand about 1868 and settled in Inch Clutha, Otago near to where his half brother George Townsend lived.

Jame's father died in 1872 and his mother in 1880, both at Inch Clutha. Lucy George's death record1 states that George Townsend was her only living child at the time of her death.

James George death wasn't sourced and his possible death before 1880 relies on accuracy of informant of Lucy George's death. They may have only known of George Townsend's existence.
