One of the oldest and best known business men of New Plymouth passed away on Thursday morning in the person of Mr James Cartwright George, after a painful and lingering illness, at the age of 62 years. Mr George was a native of Roxton, Bedfordshire, England, where his father had a coach factory. The family came to New Zealand in 1857 and settled at New Plymouth.[1]
