Biography

Edward was born in 1819 and died in 1890. [1] Birth and death locations are presumed based on burial location and family locations.

"Edward received his education in a log school house, district #20 [Andes, Middletown, NY]. At the age of 19 he learned coopering (one who makes wooden tubs and casks). About this time his marriage took place to Olive. Buying the homestead farm he built a new frame house, besides a sawmill. He finished clearing the land and bought more, so in time he owned 575 acres. The timber was worked up in his mill and then sold, mostly in the neighborhood, though a small quantity was shipped to Philadelphia, PA. He seemed to be a very prosperous farmer producing bushels of rye, oats, buckwheat, Irish potatoes along with wool, butter and maple sugar. By these enterprises he was able to leave a comfortable fortune when he died at the age of 71. Edward was a Republican and a very influential and honorable citizen. Edward and Olive were of the Methodist Episcopal faith." [2]

In 1850, Edward George owned 100 acres in Middletown, NY. [3]
