Biography
Rembert was born in the third quarter of 1879 in Plaistow, Essex, England. [1] He was the son of John and Rebecca Gerard.
The census of 1881 shows the family living on Gordon St, West Ham, Essex, England. [2] John, 38, was listed as a stevedore, whilst Rebecca's age was given as 28. The children in residence were Agnes (8), John (6), Alexander (3) and Reinbert (1).
On Christmas Day 1900 he married Jane Frances Davey. Rembert was a 22-year-old, Jane a 20-year-old. The record shows that both Rembert and his father John were labourers. [3]
From 1918 to 1921 he served in the merchant navy. [4]
He died in 1946 in West Ham at the age of 66. [5]
