Thomas Gerard was born in England.
This profile is part of the Gerard Name Study.

Thomas Gerard, son and heir of Peter Gerard and Isabel Strangeways, was born 15 July 1431.[1]

He married first to Douce Assheton, daughter of Sir Thomas Assheton, by settlement dated 1440.[1]

He was married second to Cecily Foulshurst and they had two sons, including Peter.[1]

Thomas died 27 March 1490.[1]

Thomas Gerard is not the father of Lawrence - please see note about wills I have put on Lawrence. The will for Lawrence's father Thomas shows he is a Sittingbourne man & all property named in will is in Kent. (Also different children) Also, in Lawrence's will he requests to be buried between his father & grandfather in Sittingbourne. Lawrence Gerard (Garrard) is descended from Allured Attegare (as shown in Burkes) not the Gerards of Bryn. Also, the arms borne by armigerous members of these two families are quite different.

I don't believe this Thomas had a son named Lawrence. The Thomas who died 27 Mar 1490 married Douche Asheton and Cecily Foulshurst. Thomas and Cecily had sons Peter & Thomas. Magna Carta Ancestry 2nd edition pg 249
