Biography

Isaac Gregory made his will on 13 August 1796, which was recorded in Will Book A page 56 on 3 April, 1797, and in which he left property to:[1]

  • his wife Alse to whom he left three Negroes named Bet, Peter and Adam;
  • his son Jarred to whom he bequeathed on Negroe boy named Peter;
  • his son Benjamin, (deceased before his father made his will) and Benjamin's children:
    • Salley Gordon to whom he bequeathed one Negroe girl named Rose, which Salley's mother mother Margaret was to have possession of during her life, and after Margaret's death Rose and her increase were to be Salley's;
    • William;
  • his son John to whom he left one Negroe girl named Pat;
  • his son Robert to whom he left on Negroe boy named Cato;
  • his daughter Elizabeth to whom he left one Negroe woman named Bet with her youngest child named Sal;
  • his son Isaac to whom he left one Negroe boy named Mark; and
  • his son Jeremiah to whom he bequeathed one Negroe boy named Adam;

The Royal Grants in South Carolina and other deeds, are recorded in the Union County Deed Books. Isaac and all six sons received payment and are listed in the Revolutionary War Ledgers & Journals. Alse was alive when Isaac's will was probated in 1796.[2]

Alse Gregory died at Santuc, Union County, South Carolina, United States of America.[3] after 1796.[1] She is buried in the Gregory family cemetery on the grounds of Juxa, the family plantation in Santuc, Union County, SC. Alsey is buried with her Husband Isaac Gregory, in a private family grave located near Santuc, Union county, SC.(Off the corner where Wilson and Boughman Roads intersect, behind "Juxa" The Gregory Pantation House. Alsey most likely died sometime After 1796, because she is mentioned in Her Husband's Will.

Not sure how this profile ended up with LNAB as Garrett (seems she was/should be either Unknown or Gerard) & attached as daughter of Edward Garrett and Elizabeth Catlett.

If no objections, I'll detach them as her parents.
