Elmira was at least 9 years younger than Silas: she was born about 1852 in Indiana. So they would not have married before 1868. The 1870 census shows them in Missouri with one child (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M46T-34B). Similarly the 1900 census (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M3ZL-GSP) and the 1920 census (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M88D-1HL), both in Missouri.
