Thank you for contributing towards the goals of the England Project! Over the past year, a staggering amount has been done to improve English profiles on WikiTree and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.

Maddy, on behalf of the England Project leadership
Thanks for checking in. No time for greater activity at the minute, I'm afraid, but I am happy to continue as at present for the next year or so, then happy to review the position at that time.
All the best,
Russell
Best regards,
Maddy

On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again for all you do and we look forward to you continuing to be a part of our collaborative and fun Project!
Kind regards,
Elizabeth, England Project Leader
I am happy enough to stay as I am right now. I lack the leisure time to expand my activities.
I spend more time on Herts than on Dorset - there are not many people active in Herts, whereas Dorset is rather better served (which also means that the low-hanging fruit in the Dorset Unsourced and Unknown have been plucked).
All the best,
Russell

I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We have achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.
As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members. Are you happy to stay in your current project teams? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future? Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for getting in touch.
Am I OK with membership of the Herts and Dorset teams? Yes, that's fine.
As for what I have been up to, - continuing with the Visitation of Hertfordshire project: half have been uploaded to the free space, and there are about 20 more families for which I have collected the information but not yet clicked the button to generate the webpage - occasionally trying to reduce the unsourced, unknown and suggestions for Herts. I no longer both with unconnected, since I typically spend half a day looking and end up finding no link. There must be some intuitive capability which I lack - started a One Name Study for Hucksteps (my mother's family). I have a fair amount of information for this and have uploaded a few multi-generation families. - I am collecting information on Melbury Osmond, Dorset, my great-grandfather's birthplace. I may have sufficient to start a one-name study. On the one hand, the description of what a one name study is sets the bar quite high - on the other hand, some existing ONSs seem to be quite short of information
Feedback: - some things which feature regularly anyway; such as, it's a shame it is not possible to distinguish between the surname England and the geographical entity England when it comes to sending me messages? - how about alarms? If I send a profile manager an email asking him/her to amend a LNAB, I am supposed to wait a certain time for a response and notify someone about the unresponsive profile manager if I don't get one - but by that time I have already forgotten about it. It would be helpful to have automated messages which pop up after a couple of weeks telling me to check whether I have had a response and, if not, report it in.
All the best,
Russell
Thank you for the feedback. I think most folk create an entry in their diary. I’m like you, I have moved on by the time some pms respond. Have you tried searching G2G, someone has probably asked the question before. If you come across any Andrews family in Melbury Osmond my 3xGGF was born there! Andrews-15268 I’m not sure that I understand the context of your England text problem?
Glad things are generally going well, you are really busy Take care Mike
It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around
First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?
Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Amy, Joan & Lizzie.
To be honest I have been working 60-hour weeks since August and have had little opportunity to do much else. I try to keep an eye on new Gerrards, Hucksteps and Sarsons, to see if I can match them up with individuals on my lists who are not yet on WikiTree. But I have made little progress on any projects or "good citizenship" tasks. All the best, Russell
60-hour weeks sound like a rough time, but good on you for doing so! We obviously understand that real-life comes first, and its understandable that you wouldn't have made much progress within projects. Are you still interested in remaining with the project either way? If you feel that it is too much to handle at the moment, you're able to leave for a time until your workload is more manageable, and you could then rejoin if you wished. I don't want you to think I'm attempting to push you out or anything - it's completely up to you :)
Let me know what you think,
Regards, Amy
Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for your work on English Profiles and your work in the Dorset, Hertfordshire and Managed Profiles teams.
These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.
Jo
Thanks for getting in touch. I am happy enough with my current choice, although I know I haven't been giving enough attention to the teams to which I belong. I hope that the demands on my time will slacken off eventually and allow me more time with them. To be honest, though, I can't see myself making any substantial contribution to Managed Profiles unless I have a whole lot of spare time on my hands ... which seems unlikely. All the best, Russell
If you have a special interest in Jarrard-100, I'm more than happy to pass off the profile management to you. I don't have a particular connection and it was a beautiful bit of work that you did on her biography.
Cheers!
I know that names which are written in the US or Canadian census as Jarrard/Garrard/Gerrard/Garrett might have come from English families where the spelling was rather different. I was tracing Annie Jarrard back to England to see if she was born a Gerrard, Jerrard or Jerod - as it turns out, she was christened Garrard: close, but no cigar. Having traced her in the records, it seemed as though it would be a waste not to fill in the details on her profile.
Thanks for the offer to turn Annie over to me, but at the moment it looks as though she is not from a branch of my family, so I'll pass.
All the best,
Russell
Thanks for the heads up on David and Jane Gerrard's marriage — there's a typo in the Ancestry index that has Jane as 'Mayon' instead of 'Mayoh'. I've pushed a correction for her (and the other incorrectly indexed 'Mayoh's) to Ancestry.
I did a very quick tidy of Jane's profile, but it needs rather more attention.
Many thanks, Geoff
I'll take a look at the Gerard's you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up!
On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Team Member for Dorset and Hertfordshire. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.
Are you happy to stay in your current teams and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?
Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks,
Susie, England Project Leader :-)
I've refreshed our Team page at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Dorset_Team. Please take a look at the Topics section in particular and let me know which topics you may be able to assist with over the next few months. For example, I'll be working on Profiles on the Dorset Suggestion List, in particular 612 Location too early in birth location suggestions, as well as adding category information boxes to all Dorset places.
You may wish to help in other ways. Let me know if you have any other ideas.
Thanks again,
Martin White White-22353 [email address removed]
I am new to WikiTree and hope I did this correctly. I am specifically interested in the Gerrard family in Beaufort County, North Carolina. Have you "come across" any of this family? Do you think that your Gerrard family and mine might be related? Thank you for any insight you might be able to give me. Ina Moody
On behalf of the England Project Leaders we're carrying out a check-in to see how all the members are doing and taking the opportunity to thank you for all your hard work over the past six months. We have been so impressed with the way everyone has rallied together and gone the extra mile to make this one of the most dedicated, productive and friendly communities on WikiTree. What are you enjoying most about being in the project? What would you like to see improved or changed? Would you like to continue in the project moving forwards?
We're looking forward to hearing back from you,
Amy, Susie, Gillian and Wendy
