Biography

Aeltie was a daughter of Samuel Gerritson and Yda Reyder. According to the record her father compiled in the family bible, she was born on 24 October ("old style") 1705 and "fell asleep in the Lord" on Tuesday, 19 February 1740, in her 35th year. [1]

Research Notes

I removed note that said that 10/24/1705 Old Style date corresponds to 11/4/1705 New Style. We do not make these 10 to 12-day conversions in our genealogy (these conversions are likely to result in errors), and anyway the Dutch had been using the Gregorian calendar, and seem to have continued doing so in their churches even after the British took charge of civil affairs.
