Biography

Augusta was born on 29 January 1881 in Niederwihl, Germany.[1] She was the daughter of Johann Gerspacher and Kunigunde Dreier .[2]

She and her mother and siblings sailed from Bremen, Germany on the Braunschweig, and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on 26 July 1883.[3] They then joined her father in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1900, Gussie worked as a laundress.[4]

She married Emil Glaser on 9 May 1903 in St. Louis County, Missouri.[5]

By 1908, Gussie and Emil had separated, and they were living at different addresses in St. Louis.[6]

In 1910, she ran a rooming house in St. Louis, Missouri.[7]

Gussie married Roy Parker on 1 June 1916 in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.[8]

In 1921, she was a clerk at the the Argonaut Hotel in Los Angeles, California.[9]

By 1927, Gussie was working as a waiter at hotels in Pasadena, California. She worked at the Hotel Vista Del Arroyo,[10] the Maryland Hotel,[11] and the Huntington Hotel.[12]

Gussie died on 22 February 1969 at the Palm Grove Sanitarium in Duarte, Los Angeles County, California.[13] She was entombed at the Pasadena Mausoleum.[14][15] Her body was brought back to St. Louis, Missouri, and she was buried in the Gersbacher family plot (section 010K, lot 0024E) in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery[16][17] on 22 December 1972.[18]
