Janet (Gesick) Black is a Volga German.

Janet Charlene Black, 65, of Seymour, IN formerly of Greeley, CO passed away December 23, 2010 at South Central Hospice of Indiana.

She was born January 1, 1945 in Greeley to George and Marie (Rein) Gesick. She attended schools in Gilcrest, CO and Gill, CO. Janet lived and worked in the Evans, CO and Greeley areas. She worked at McDonald’s Restaurant for 25 years and was a custodian at Frontier Academy before moving to Seymour in 2006 to be with her son, Terry Faulkner.

On November 11, 1980 Janet married Charles “Chuck” Black. He passed away on February 20, 2006.

Janet loved fishing, camping and gambling trips to Black Hawk and Deadwood, SD with family. She was a hard worker, had a quiet manner and enjoyed the love of her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Terry Faulkner (former daughter-in-law, Carmen Faulkner) of Seymour; daughter, Lynette Scoggins (Lester Salazar) of Gill; grandchildren, Joshua Launer, Kerystin Ruybal, Chelsey Ruybal, Gary Cooper, Desiree Cooper and Dakota Cooper; great grandson, Lucas; sisters, Dorothy (Gene) Winick of Fort Collins, CO, Gladys (Jerry) Lutes of Greeley, Barbara (Hank) Ley of Pierce, CO; brothers, Dan(Elaine) Gesick of Milliken, CO, Alvin (Linda) Gesick of Fort Collins, Richard (Rita) Gesick of Riverton, WY, Larry (Joyce) Gesick of Tempe, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Black; and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at Adamson Chapel. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
