Biography

Gaetano was born around 1800 in Santa Margherita di Belice, Sicily, a son of Maestro Francesco Giambalvo and Calogera Bivona. He married Lucia Governale in 1830 ^[1] and they had 9 known children.

Gaetano's occupation was listed as 'crivellatore' in his marriage record, but there is some disagreement as to how to translate this. Some sites translate it as 'seive maker', and others think it is more likely a user of seives, as in a mining operation.

He died in 1864 at around 65 years of age ^[2].
