Rosa Giandalone is born around 1903 in Corleone, based on her age at immigration. She is the daughter of Giuseppe Giandalone and Francesca Ligotino. Rosa is named after her maternal grandmother.
Giuseppe, 45 (b. 1868), his wife Francesca, 33 (b. 1880), and two of their daughters, Rosa, 10 (b. 1903), and Vincenza, 11 (b. 1902), immigrate on the SS Argentina, arriving in New York on 23 May 1913. None of them can read or write. They are joining Francesca's brother, Calogero.[1]
Rosa (or Rose) marries Giuseppe Buscemi, a native of Palermo, the son of Vincenzo Buscemi and Maria Gioia, on 25 June 1933 in Manhattan.[2]
