Adelaide was born in 1843 in Grimsbury, Northamptonshire.[1] She was the daughter of John Gibbard and Elizabeth Warner. Her baptism took place at St Mary's, Banbury, Oxfordshire on 11th August 1843.[2] Her father stated on the register that he was a grocer and that the family were living in Grimsbury at the time.
Her birth was registered as Adeline but her baptism was in the name Adelaide
Grimsbury was at this time a hamlet in the parish of Warkworth, Northamptonshire and was not transferred to the parish of Bodicote in Oxfordshire until 1889.
