Isabel, daughter of Matthew Gibbon, yeoman, of Low Wham [farm near Butterknowle] by his wife Elizabeth; married at Hamsterley 11 jun 1764; died 7 dec 1812 & buried at St Helens Auckland 10 dec 1812. widow at that time aged 74. Will dated 30 may 1796 proved at Durham 30 dec 1813. [1]
Isabel Gibbon 1738-1812 Isabel Was born at High Wham farm Hamsterley in 1738 & baptised at St James there on 1 Jul. She was the daughter of Matthew Gibbon, yeoman & his wife Elizabeth nee Tinkeller. She marries George Langstaff III in 1788 & bears him six children. She survives him & dies a widow age 74 on 7 Dec 1812 at Blue House Butterknowle where the couple lived for many years. She is buried at St Helen’s on the 10th. She dated her will 30 May 1796 & it was proved at Durham on 30 Dec 1813. her daughter Ann gets the estate which was worth between £200-£300 [£9,300 & £14,000 in 2017].
