Emma Gibbons was born in Hampshire, England.

Emma was born about 1859 in Bitterne, Hampshire, England^[1], the daughter of Charles Gibbons and Ellen West. Her birth was registered during January-March 1859 at South Stoneham, Hampshire, England^[2]

At the time of the 1861 census, her mother had died, and she was living at Bitterne with her father, a boot and shoemaker aged 42, two brothers, John and George, and a visitor, Charles West.^[1][3]

By the time of the 1871 census Emma was 12 and visiting the household of John Sweney at Hersham, Surrey, England with her father.^[4]

On 1 Nov 1875, when aged 18, Emma married Thomas Abraham at Botley, Hampshire, England.^[5]
