Biography

Phillip, child of Thomas Gibs & Elizebeth Gibs, was baptised on 23 August 1759 in Dodbrooke, Devon, England.[1]

Philip married Mary Nicholson on 29 March 1791 in Kingsbridge, Devon, England.[2]

Philip died in about 1835 in Taunton, Somerset, England. His will passed probate on 18 November 1835.[3]

Research Notes

The Murray/Smith Genealogy Page quotes Phillip's will as follows:

In his will Philip left to his wife, "all his household goods, furniture, plate, china, glass, books, wines and liquors and the best bed." To his son, Benjamin, he left an annuity and his second best bed. To his sons Philip, Thomas and John he left 35 pounds.

No source is included for this will, but assuming that it is accurate, it establishes Thomas Gibbs as a son of Phillip and Mary. (Many other secondary sources also show Thomas Gibbs as a son of Phillip and Mary).
